Swinging for a Cause: AREAA Greater Chicago’s 3rd Annual Golf Benefit Event
Last August 25, 2025, I had the privilege of attending the 3rd Annual Swing for a Cause Benefit for the AREAA Foundation, hosted by AREAA Greater Chicago at the beautiful Bloomingdale Golf Club.
This event was extra special for me because my good friend, Cleo Aquino, is the current president of AREAA Greater Chicago. Seeing her lead such an impactful event with passion and grace was truly inspiring, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work she and her team are doing.
The day was filled with a perfect mix of golf and community. We enjoyed the following:
- 18 holes of golf with fellow professionals and leaders
- A delicious lunch and dinner that gave us more chances to connect
- Contests, raffles, and plenty of on-course fun to keep the energy high
- The chance to network and reconnect with old friends while making new ones
What I loved most was the purpose behind it all. Proceeds from the contests and raffles went directly to the AREAA Foundation, supporting sustainable homeownership in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. It’s heartwarming to know that a day of fun and camaraderie on the golf course could contribute to such a meaningful cause.
As a Filipino, I love supporting events like these that uplift our Asian American and Pacific Islander community. This event was more than just golf, it was about celebrating friendship, leadership, and community. It’s a reminder that we’re stronger when we come together—not just to grow professionally, but also to give back and create opportunities for others. Watching Cleo in her role as president reminded me how important it is to celebrate leadership and stand behind organizations making a real impact to support one another, not just in business but also in causes that uplift our communities.
The Swing for a Cause Benefit is proof that when we come together—whether through networking, fundraising, or even a round of golf—we can create lasting impact. I’m already looking forward to next year’s event and to seeing the continued good that AREAA Greater Chicago and the AREAA Foundation will bring.
Until then, here’s to strong drives, steady putts, and friendships that make the journey even more meaningful.
