ClioCon 2025 – Day 1: Innovation, Community, and Celebration in Boston

The legal industry is changing—and at Clio Cloud Conference 2025 in Boston, that transformation was on full display. I had the privilege of attending Day 1 of the event on October 16 alongside Alexis Conley of Pinay Law and my husband, Ian Sharping. As a legal entrepreneur and founder of Pinay Law, I came to ClioCon to connect, learn, and explore new strategies for building a modern law firm that delivers client-centered legal services powered by technology and innovation.

ClioCon is not your typical legal conference. It is where legal professionals, law firm owners, and innovators gather to reimagine the future of law. From the moment the doors opened, the message was clear: legal technology isn’t just a tool—it’s a movement reshaping how law is practiced around the world.

Day 1 focused heavily on law firm leadership, client experience, automation, artificial intelligence, and operational efficiency—topics that hit home as Pinay Law continues to grow and evolve. Sessions challenged us to rethink firm management, embrace innovation responsibly, and deliver legal services with accessibility, empathy, and excellence.

Key insights I took away from Day 1:

  • The most successful law firms in 2025 are tech-enabled but human-driven.
  • Client relationships—not billable hours—define long-term law firm success.
  • Automation and AI can streamline operations, but leadership and purpose guide strategy.
  • Law firms must adapt faster than ever or risk being left behind.

Day 1 also featured the Reisman Awards, a celebration of legal professionals who are driving meaningful change. This ceremony is a reminder that innovation is not just about software—it’s about people and purpose. Seeing law firms across the world use technology to improve access to justice and enhance legal services was both humbling and inspiring.

At Pinay Law, we continue to align ourselves with that mission—leveraging legal innovation to better serve families, immigrants, and everyday people who deserve quality legal representation.

Clio After Dark: When Work Meets Community

After a full day of learning and growth, the night shifted into celebration with Clio After Dark at the iconic MGM Music Hall in Boston. This was more than a networking event—it was a reminder of the power of community in the legal profession.

Highlights from the night:

  • Live music and dancing that brought together attorneys, tech leaders, and legal teams from around the world
  • Open bar and incredible Boston-style bites
  • A hilarious and memorable performance by award-winning comedian Zarna Garg
  • A surprise moment for me—meeting up with my cousin Rico De Guzman, who joined us for the celebration!

Clio After Dark wasn’t just a party—it was a celebration of connection, collaboration, and the energy of a profession that is finally embracing change.

Why ClioCon Matters to Pinay Law

Day 1 reinforced why events like ClioCon matter. The legal industry is evolving—and Pinay Law is committed to leading with purpose, innovation, and resilience. Every session challenged us to think bigger about how we serve clients and build sustainable, future-ready law firms.

From legal practice management strategies to client communication tools and AI-powered workflows, ClioCon gave us new insight into scaling our impact without losing what matters most—service, integrity, and compassion.

This is just Day 1—and already, the experience has been transformative. I’m excited to share more tomorrow as we dive deeper into workshops, product demos, and insights from the brightest leaders in legal tech.

Stay tuned for Day 2 of ClioCon 2025!
